With our books after Year 10 prize giving.
I'm so proud of all the amazing students in this photo!
Close your eyes....
and imagine where you want to be in five years.
Thanks to Caltex Fuel Your School for this one!
We were very lucky to receive some of the funding received from a Fuel Your School grant to WHS - here we are with Jeremy and Hayley from Z Energy, Dan Milward and our students. No, I don't know where the hat came from.
The shipment of books has arrived!
A huge thanks to the Rotary Club of Mount Victoria Wellington, for sponsoring the Take Charge! book for each of the 2016 Upwards participants! The book comes from Sandy Vincent-Guy's experience and her Take Charge! programme.
Pizzas nearly ready to go....
With our certificates after the last Upwards class for the year.
We didn't have our books yet as they were still at the printers' - but we did get our nice snazzy certificates for all the amazing people in this photo!
In the (other) wharenui
I'm really glad we held classes in the wharenui for each school - it was a great chance to connect further. Here we're talking about whakapapa and the people who support us.
Christina with Dan Milward of Gamefroot
Gamefroot is part of Te Papa's Mahuki programme this year (helping make their exhibits more accessible via digital), and the lucky students at this pilot school could choose to take part in Upwards or in Dan's game development workshop, which he co-ran with Rachel from NZCER.
Budgeting for food
This was a lot of students' favourite exercise - work out what to buy with a set food budget and the grocery flyers. It was hard!
In the wharenui
A rare moment everyone is sitting down... which is probably how I could get a photo!
Trip to Government house
We were lucky enough to go on a tour of Government House with the rest of the Year 9s.
Inside Government House
Here the tour guide is telling us about how the Governor-General is more important than the Prime Minister, even.
